The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is set to officially launch the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration on June 30, 2026, marking the beginning of activities leading to this year’s national event.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry, the launch will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the forecourt of the Ministry in Accra and will bring together corporate organisations, development partners, donor agencies, financial institutions, agribusinesses and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The Ministry noted that for more than four decades, the National Farmers’ Day Celebration has served as Ghana’s foremost platform for recognising and rewarding the contributions of farmers, fishermen, agricultural workers, agribusinesses, researchers and institutions that continue to drive growth and transformation within the sector.
“This launch will officially kick-start activities leading to the 2026 national celebration,” the Ministry stated.
As part of the event, the Ministry is expected to unveil the theme for the 42nd edition of the celebration, announce the host region, outline the programme of activities and provide details on award categories and other arrangements for the event.
The Ministry said the launch will also create opportunities for sponsorships and partnerships, enabling organisations and stakeholders to support Ghana’s agricultural development agenda while engaging directly with the Ministry on areas of collaboration.
“It offers a valuable platform for stakeholders to engage directly with the Ministry and explore areas for collaboration towards a successful and impactful celebration,” the statement said.
MoFA further emphasized the critical role of the private sector and development partners in advancing sustainable agricultural growth, food security, job creation and value addition.
“As Ghana continues to pursue sustainable agricultural growth, food security, job creation and value addition, the Ministry recognizes the important role played by the private sector and development partners,” the statement noted.
The Ministry has therefore encouraged organisations, institutions and development partners to participate in the launch and take advantage of opportunities for engagement and partnership.
“Together, let us celebrate the individuals and institutions whose efforts continue to feed the nation and drive agricultural transformation in Ghana,” the Ministry added.
The National Farmers’ Day Celebration remains one of Ghana’s most significant annual events, honouring outstanding contributions to the country’s agricultural sector and promoting innovation and productivity in farming and agribusiness.
