CSIR Engages Fisheries Minister on Job Creation Initiatives

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture , Hon. Emelia Arthur, to discuss collaborative opportunities for job creation through innovative alternative programmes.
During the meeting, CSIR shared its commitment to commercializing its research outputs to support national development. For the fisheries sector, the focus is on training individuals and groups in key areas such as Tilapia and Catfish farming, hatchery management, and fish feed formulation using locally available materials.
Hon. Emelia Arthur commended CSIR for going beyond research to implement practical, market-ready solutions that benefit Ghanaians. She expressed her appreciation for the Institute’s forward-thinking approach and encouraged stronger collaboration between CSIR and the Ministry to expand employment opportunities, especially for the youth.
“This partnership has great potential to create sustainable jobs and improve livelihoods. Let’s work together to make it a reality,” the Minister noted.
The engagement marks a promising step towards harnessing science and innovation to transform the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Ghana.
