Grant Tax Holidays to Boost Agriculture Sector in Ghana-Agri Eye Consult

Executive Director of Agri Eye Consult, Richmond Frimpong, has called on the government of Ghana to introduce tax holidays for local manufacturing companies operating within the agricultural value chain.

Speaking at the 2025 Researchers and Investors Summit, Mr. Frimpong emphasized the critical role agriculture plays in the country’s economic development, describing it as the “bedrock of Ghana’s prosperity.”

“I entreat the government of Ghana to grant tax holidays to locally manufacturing firms within the agriculture value chain,” he urged during his address.

He noted that Ghana’s agricultural sector is filled with untapped opportunities, ranging from climate-resilient seed systems and digital innovations to improvements in value chains and regenerative soil practices. However, he stressed that innovation alone is not enough.

“Innovation means little if it is not used. And impact is impossible without investment,” Mr. Frimpong added, calling for greater support from both the public and private sectors to unlock the full potential of agriculture in Ghana.

The summit, which brought together stakeholders from across research, policy, and industry, aimed to foster collaboration and mobilize investment for sustainable development in agriculture and related sectors.

  1. Tax holiday is needed in Agricultural production. GRA is creating situations which may close down most farms soon. Their taxes on daily workers, food served on the farm to workers and many practices is making farming more expensive and these expenses can’t be charged to final product. This renders farming not to be profitable. Implication is a lot.
